Jason is awarded an Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF) Scholarship. The ASF was founded in 1984 by the surviving Mercury 7 astronauts, Betty Grissom, Project Mercury’s flight surgeon, and a friend, with the mission of ensuring US leadership in technology. The scholarship award consists of a $15K honorarium and lifelong mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities.
This is the 7th time (out of the 855 awardees) an University of Illinois student has been awarded, and the first time an HMNTL researcher, and a student from the Departments of Physics and ECE is recognized.
